Welcome to DoIT's IT Academy
The UW-Madison Information Technology Academy (ITA) is an innovative pre-college program that provides four years of technology access and training for diverse students attending Madison public schools.
ITA’s principle mission is to prepare diverse students for technical, academic, and personal excellence in today’s Information Age. Through its triple focus on academic preparation, leadership skills, and technological literacy, ITA continues the University of Wisconsin tradition of inclusive excellence, outreach, and service.
Each year, ITA competitively recruits 30 students in their final semester of 8th grade. Selected students receive four years of intensive training for high-tech, IT-related careers and thorough preparation for competitive university admissions and study. Students of ITA build knowledge and skills through hands-on training, mentoring, leadership development, community service, and internship opportunities. At the same time, the students’ communities benefit from greater access to technology and from the skills and experience gained by these future leaders.
ITA is the only IT outreach program of its kind and scope in the state of Wisconsin.
