Applicant Information
Applicant Form (ITA is not currently accepting applications.)
Each year we prepare for the time during which our program grows to include another class of high-caliber students who strive for excellence in academics and extracurriculars. Launched in May 2000, ITA is a unique 4-year pre-college technology access and training program for under-served minority and/or low-income students attending Madison public schools. ITA encourages U.S. citizens and permanent residents to apply.
Participation in ITA requires a significant time commitment from parents and students. Incoming students are required to attend a summer technology training camp, which is held during the first 2 weeks in August, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday on the UW campus. Upon successful completion of this camp, students will be officially inducted into the four-year program, and will receive a desktop computer, printer, and internet dial-up account to use at home. Attendance at this camp is mandatory.
During the school year, ITA scholars come to campus two Saturdays per month for full days (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.) to take part in technology workshops, pre-college seminars, and study circles.
In addition, ITA Graduates who are admitted to degree-seeking programs at the UW-Madison will receive an in-state tuition grant for up to five years, paid for by some form of grant or gifts, including financial aid.
Please read through the Applicant Handbook before deciding if ITA is right for you. Please be aware that admissions are competitive, and only a small percentage of applicants will be accepted into the program. First priority will be given to qualified students participating in the Madison PEOPLE Program.
If you are interested in making the commitment to excellence, please fill out the Application Form. Be sure to read all application guidelines carefully before completing the application. You may also apply online, but be sure to submit all required materials before the 2008 deadline!!
Additional questions and/or inquiries can be directed to Erica Laughlin, ITA Coordinator, or the ITA Program Office.
