ITA Staff

Erica Laughlin

ITA Program Coordinator and is principally responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program, including curriculum and fund development, student academic affairs, and community outreach. In addition, she is the lead instructor for the 12th grade College Prep curriculum. A Madison native, Ms. Laughlin holds an Master of Science degree in Education Administration from the UW-Madison (2005), a Master of Arts degree in French (1994) from Middlebury College and Bachelor's degrees in French and English (1992) from the University of Minnesota. Prior to joining the UW-Madison DoIT staff, Ms. Laughlin taught French at the University of Minnesota-Morris (1994-1999), where she also directed the Language Technology Center and the Faculty Center for Learning and Teaching. More recently, she worked as an Instructional Technology Consultant and AV Services Coordinator for the College of Letters & Science at the UW-Madison (1999-2001). She has been the ITA Program Coordinator since 2001.

AJ KrillA.J. Krill

Instructional Techonology Specialist/Technical Support. He is the lead instructor within the ITA classrooms and helps students to maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade the computers they receive from ITA. A.J. holds a bachelor's degree from UW-Madison in secondary English education and is most passionate about teaching and learning from diverse students. A.J.'s techinical background stems from various positions teaching and writing curriculum for ITA and STS (Software Training for Students) at DoIT thoroughout his undergraduate studies.

Excell Williams

ITA Academic Support Specialist, works closely with students and parents to assess student academic progress, as well as coordinate the tutoring and mentoring components of ITA. In addition, he serves as lead instructor for the 11th grade Leadership and the 9th grade Study Skills seminars. Mr. Williams is a licensed social worker and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Aurora University in Chicago. He has significant experience working with youth through organizations such as the Dane County Human Services Department, Community Adolescent Programs, Community Partnerships, and Aurora Township Youth Services. Mr. Williams brings over 15 years of experience in social work to the ITA program.

Michelle McKiernan

Academic Support Specialist, came to ITA with the class of 2010.  She works closely with two cohorts (class of 2010 and class of 2011) their families, and their schools to facilitate their ITA success.  She serves as lead instructor for the 10th grade Leadership seminar as well as coordinator of the summer internship program for rising juniors and seniors.  Ms. McKiernan earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and her Master’s in counseling from California State University, Long Beach.  Her background is in adult basic education, as a teacher and counselor, and as a school counselor at the elementary and middle school levels.

Gyehoon Oh

Project Assistant, takes primary responsibility for program evaluation, generating and analyzing data about the ITA program and its students, including measurements of student technology and academic skills, retention rates, post-secondary attendance rates, and mentor satisfaction and effectiveness. Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, she holds a bachelor's and master's degree in education. Currently, she is pursuing her doctoral degree in Educational Policy Studies, UW- Madison.

Will Harper

Instructional Support Specialist , serves as the lead instructor for the 11th grade ACT curriculum and co-supervisor of the summer internship program. In addition, he co-coordinates the activities of the social and events committee, assists with event planning and helps to maintain student records. Will comes to us from his most recent work in South Africa, where he worked with young people in Child Headed Households. He received his undergraduate degree at Kent State and is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Community Counseling.

Alison Thompson

Office Assistant, helps with general administration of the program, maintenance of student records, and upkeep of the ITA website. She is a junior at UW-Madison, majoring in Art with a focus in graphics.

Janessa Boone

Program Assistant, helps with general administration of the program and classroom/lab supervision. She is a graduate of ITA's class of 2007 and is a freshman at the UW-Madison.

 

ITA Instructional Technology TEAM:

Training staff members work closely with ITA administration to develop and deliver a cutting edge curriculum that is both challenging and fun for students, and reflective of current and emerging trends in the information technology field.

Roslynn Pedracine

Roslynn is a fourth year Legal Studies & Afro American Studies major at UW- Madison. She is a member of the first ITA graduating class and attended Edgewood High School. She also works for STS, the PEOPLE Program as an English tutor, and the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County - Taft St as a Program Assistant. Outside of work and school she is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and enjoys traveling and spending time with her family

Drew PetersenDrew Petersen

Drew Petersen is an Art major currently focusing on Graphic Design. He enjoys teaching web technologies, such as XHTML, CSS, and PHP, and all the fun graphic programs that help to make web sites interesting and design oriented. He's played the piano since the age of seven, and does so in two bands: Ticket251, a jazz combo, and The Beeves, a unique blend of a drum set, guitar, bass, and keyboard.

Chou ThaoChou Thao

Chou is a fourth year student at UW-Madison. Besides working as a instructor for ITA he also works as a Software Training for Students (STS) trainer. Chou enjoys teaching web design classes and animation. Out of school, Chou enjoys playing football, sketching, and drawing. Chou is also a 2004 graduate of ITA!

 

Erica SchroyerErica Schroyer

Erica is a Nursing major, with a Women's Studies Certificate, planning to graduate in 2009. She hopes to be a midwife someday, and enjoys biking, dancing, theatre, and cooking with friends. Erica works at Two Degrees Coffeeshop, volunteers with Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment (PAVE), and is excited to be teaching with ITA.

 

Lance VestLance Vest

Lance Vest is a third-year Student at UW, working towards a major in history and a certificate in religious studies. He was a member of the ITA class of 2004. He is also a software trainer for DoIT's Software Training for Students (STS), working mainly with multimedia, graphics, and web design software. Lance's favorite color is orange, his favorite meal is fish and chips, and he loves listening to music in his free time.

Pacal BayleyPacal Bayley

Pacal Bayley is a graduate of UW's School of Education. He holds a teaching certification in the field of Secondary English. He has worked at I.T.A. as an instructor since 2006, specializing in multimedia technology. He uses his experience as a hip-hop producer and DJ to approach topics of audio production, videography and the host of other programs taught at ITA.
