About Myself
I am a Chicago native, though I moved to Madison shortly after I was born, and have lived here ever since. Currently, I live in the south side of Madison with my mother and attend James Madison Memorial High School as a Senior. I plan to attend a four-year university this coming fall, having applied to eight schools ranging across the Midwest and Northeast. I am set on majoring in biology, specifically microbiology or molecular biology, though I still want to pursue other fields, such as mathematics, philosophy, anthropology, and spanish.
Qualifications
I have taken three semesters of photography, having mostly worked in the darkroom making black and white prints, though I have experimented with digital photography. Last spring I entered my work into a student photography show, and I hope to continue taking photographs in my spare time, always improving as an artist. This is a skill I feel I can apply to other uses, such as creating tutorials or covering stories.
I have taken steps to become a proficient writer and be able to effectively express and argue my ideas. This past summer I took an expository writing workshop at the Harvard Extension School and earned an A-, while I am currently enrolled in an Advanced Placement english course.
Technology Skills and Focus
My particular strengths with technology are in web design and hardware. I have worked on numerous web sites campaigning for presidential candidates, rasing awareness for issues, and helping organizations bring their own sites up to date. I work primarily with Adobe Dreamweaver, but I am willing to cross over to other web design software. Over the years, at ITA I have become more familiar with different types of hardware components of a computer, arriving at the point where I was able to build a computer on my own. I am also Microsoft Word ceritifed, and am currently seeking more certifications.
With my prior experience and skills, I would be best suited to office work, web design, and work with hardware. I have interned before, running errands and working with audio and visual equipment.
